If you are currently taking medication for a medical condition, have undergone a procedure or surgery (including childbirth) within the past year, or have
symptoms, please be aware that some tests you have selected may not be available on the day of the examination.
Pre-Examination Preparation
7 Days Before the Examination
If you are scheduled for a gastric/colon endoscopy and are taking antiplatelet or anticoagulant medications, consult with your doctor about whether to stop them.
Depending on the medication, it may need to be stopped 7 days prior. If not stopped, a biopsy or polyp removal may not be possible.
If you are taking anticoagulants (Coumadin, Warfarin, Heparin, etc.), you may not be able to undergo the examination, so be sure to inform the staff at the reservation center.
3 Days Before the Examination
Avoid alcohol, smoking, and excessive fatigue, and get sufficient rest.
For those undergoing MRI, if you have dental braces, metal objects, or surgical implants in your body, check with the hospital or clinic where you had the
procedure done to confirm if it’s safe to undergo an MRI scan with a 3 Tesla MRI (3.0T MRI) machine.
The Day Before the Examination
Please finish dinner by 7 PM and fast afterward. (Refer to the separate colonoscopy guide if you are scheduled for a colonoscopy.)
Eat a light meal with no fatty foods and get plenty of sleep.
If you need a stool sample for the test, collect it.
(If you are having a colonoscopy, collect the sample before taking the bowel preparation medication, and store it in a cool place.)
From the start of fasting, stop taking diabetes medications and insulin injections.
